Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro release date, specs, features and rumors

The Huawei P30 PRO is one of the best camera phones on the market, if not the best, but it's not the last device we expect to see from the Chinese company this year.

The Mate 30 series is due out before the end of the year, and rumors suggest three variants will be present, one of which is said to be powered by Huawei in the new HarmonyOS. That's all we know and have heard so far about Mate 30, Guy 30 Pro and Buddy 30 Light.

Release date

  • Mid October 2019
  • Huawei Partner 30 Lite in IFA 2019

Typically, the Huawei Mate series will be released in October. Mate 10, Half Mate 10 Pro and Mate 10 Porsche Design were revealed on October 16, 2017, while Mate 20 and Mate 20 were announced on October 16, 2018.

Therefore, we expect the Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro to be announced around mid-October, although we could see a friend 30 Light announced at the 2019 IFA in Berlin, which takes place at the end of August. There's also been some talk of mid-September, but we think it's a little early for the main 30-device pairings.

A leaked product roadmap, meanwhile, suggests the 5G 30 Mate and Mate 30 Pro models could arrive in December, so a couple of months after expected LTE variants in Russia.

Buddy 30 and Mate 30 Pro design

  • Premium design
  • IP68 for Pairing 30 Pro
  • Square camera body

The Huawei Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro are expected to follow the design path of their predecessors. We expect the Leica-branded boxy camera system to make its way to new devices, and we expect to see premium, metal and glass build quality.

Exciting color options are also expected and the Mate 30 Pro leats should offer IP68 water and dust resistance.

Buddy 30 and Mate 30 Pro Display

  • Buddy 30: Full HD+
  • Buddy 30 Pro: quad-core HD+ sensor, sub-display fingerprint
  • Frequency 90Hz update for Mate 30 Pro

If Huawei follows the same pattern as last year, the Mate 30 will have a full HD+ display, while the Mate 30 Pro will see a Quad HD+ display. In 2018. the Pro model was smaller than the standard model, although there was talk that the Mate 30 Pro would offer a 6.7-inch display that would be 0,4 inches larger than its predecessor and 0,1 inches larger than the Mate 20. It's it is not yet clear if mat 30 can also increase its size.

The pro model ditched the physical fingerprint sensor in 2018, moving to a sub-display fingerprint reader, while the standard model had a circular fingerprint sensor under the body camera on the back. Like Huawei P30 and P30 Pro with under-display sensors, we'd expect the same on the Mate series. There's also talk of a 90Hz refresh rate for the Pairing 30 Pro, like the OnePlus 7 Pro offers.

Mate 30 and Mate 30 Pro Equipment

  • Kirin 985/990
  • 4000mAh plus batteries
  • Android with EMUI 10
  • Buddy 30 Lite can run on HarmonyOS

The Huawei Partner 30 and Mate 30 Pro should both run on the same chipset, which will be the latest Kirin processor. The processor is expected to be announced at the IFA Consumer Electronics Show, which is expected to be called the Kirin Kirin 985 and 990.

The Mate 30 will likely offer a drop in RAM compared to the pro models, but both should have at least 128GB of internal storage and Huawei's microSD version - called nm - for storage expansion. We also expect to see 4000mAh+ batteries under the hoods like the Mate 30 models.

He claimed Pairing 30 and Mate 30 Pro would run on Android with EMUI 10 on top. The Pairing 30 Lite, however, is said to run on the recently announced HarmonyOS.
