Huawei cards for intro on mat 30? Kit Map hints at replacing Google Maps

A report from China Daily says that Huawei is working on its own map service as an alternative to Google Maps, due to arrive in October. Which may coincide with the arrival of a rumored buddy 30 phone.

So why is Huawei working on matching? Because, in the event of a fallout from the US, problems will continue in the future using the Android operating system from Google, it will need its own setting. The company has already announced its HarmonyOS operating system.

What a mapping solution, he proposed, would be called a map kit. It's aimed at developers rather than consumers in front of the system, because if there's no Android then there's no Maps API, which will mean apps won't be able to connect to this geo service.

This is not the first time we have seen this type of approach. Amazon had to take a similar approach with its doomed fire phone, also because the Maps API is not available for that operating system. Instead, the company used here as a workaround.

Huawei already has a 'Russian Google' Yandex and the owner of Booking.com booking enterprise signed up. Now it just needs all the other big guns to get on board, because quite simply, at least half of the apps in most phones require some sort of mapping to function properly.

We'll have to wait and see if and how big the kit card difference will enable Huawei's future phone offering…
