Best Kindle: Amazon Kindle 2019

The entry-level Amazon Kindle is the best Kindle you can buy right now, with a great balance of features and price.

Launched in March 2019, its new backlight feature is only $89.99(£69.99, AU$124), which means that now the entire line from Amazon Kindle comes with a backlight.

You still get the benefits of the previous model, with an adequate (and now backlit) touchscreen display, long lasting battery and plenty of room for all your digital books, plus an intuitive interface that makes navigating your books a breeze.

It's thin and light, so even if you could, in fact, carry an entire library around with you, it won't even feel as weighty as a soft one.

Why should I buy it? Because you want to bargain and you can live without waterproofing, latest design and high screen resolution.

Best Kindle: Amazon Kindle Paperwhite

Amazon updated the Kindle Paperwhite back in 2018 to add several features from the Swimming and Oasis Lines, including IPX8-rated waterproofing and support for audiobook audio.

The screen is still fantastic with a beautiful 6-inch 300ppi HD display and 8GB of storage, meaning you can store thousands of books on one device.

The Kindle Paperwhite is almost as close as you can get to real paper while getting all the benefits of a reader. You have access to Amazon's huge library of books and you can even use the Paperwhite's unlimited Kindle rental.

There is built-in light and you're not going to get any screen glare when reading it in bright sunlight. The battery isn't as good as the latest versions as it lasts four to six weeks, but it's a very good time to do an ebook reading.

Why should I buy it? If you're looking for one of the best touch screen e-readers and want to be able to read in bright sunlight, the Amazon Kindle Paperwhite is your choice.

Best Kindle: Amazon Kindle Oasis

When it came out, the Amazon Kindle Oasis (2017) was the most advanced (still expensive) kindle around – while it was replaced by a newer-gen version of the device, there are still reasons to pick up the older model.

Well, there is one reason, indeed, that it is now available at a discounted price compared to the new model. While it doesn't have all the new features like warm light to reduce eye strain, it does drop the cost by a corresponding amount.
