Apple is expected to announce three new iPhones in September 2019. We've covered what we expect to be the next iPhone and iPhone XS XS Max in a separate feature, but here we're looking at the iPhone XR's successor.
Here's everything we've heard so far, mixed in with some of our own expectations for good measure.
What will the next iPhone XR be called?
- for iPhone XR2
- for iPhone Hir
- for iPhone 11r
Apple threw a wrench into the works when it launched the iPhone X in 2017, changing its iPhone to a naming scheme with the system serial number it used with the iPhone 3G, the X, R, and S systems in 2018.
Therefore, at the moment it is not clear what the successor to the iPhone XR will be called and is quite difficult to guess. It could be iPhone XR, iPhone XR2, iPhone 11p, or something completely different.
Apple iPhone XR2 release date
- Forecast September 10
We expect Apple's next iPhone event to take place in the second week of September, as has been done for several years to come.
Typically, the company holds its iPhone events on Tuesday, so while nothing has been confirmed yet, we're waiting for September 10th for a day worth appearing in the diary. There has been a report for a sale date of September 20th that would be linked to the September 10th event and there is also some evidence of September 10th appearing in iOS 13 beta images.
