What 5G phones have launched or are coming in 2019?

The first 5G networks have already launched in the UK and the US. Along with this, the introduction of 5G phones has already been announced by Samsung, Xiaomi and smartphones from OnePlus, Oppo and others. We detail topics below and link to our other comprehensive coverage of these devices.

By the way, this feature is only for 2019 phones at the moment - we believe that the iPhone XII (iPhone 12) in 2020 will be the first phone from Apple 5G. In a surprise announcement that Apple is now associated with Qualcomm to use its 5G modem. On the same day, and in a well-coordinated move, alternative vendor Intel announced that it would not produce 5G smartphone modems after all.

Nokia has also announced that it's going to use Qualcomm's 5G processor chips in a future smartphone - we might get to see that in 2019, but it's likely to be next year's Mobile World Congress event in February.

Samsung S10 5g, Note 10+ 5g, Galaxy fold

The Galaxy S10 5G - which we've reviewed in its entirety and think is arguably the best 5G phone to date - is available now from UO, O2, Three and Vodafone in the UK and Verizon, and T-Mobile and Sprint in the US.

There are also Note 10+ 5G available from three, Vodafone, EE and O2 in the UK and Verizon in the US. This new, even larger device comes bundled with the familiar c-stylus. It also looks smarter than the S10 equivalent, making it the clear champion of the 5G.

An improved version of the Galaxy Fold - after previous problems - will go on sale in September, with a protective film on the display extending beyond the bezels so it can't be removed.

Samsung uses its own chipset and modem in at least some devices in the series. As before, Qualcomm's 5G hardware inside US-sold S10 devices, while Samsung's Exynos hardware is used for the rest of the world. Samsung 5g modem is called Exynos modem with 5100.

The OnePlus 7 Pro has a 5G option in a regular handset, so it's pretty surprising with the OnePlus 7 Pro 5G title. It's available now over ee in the UK. The key to the set is the fast screen refresh rate feature, which makes everything look silky smooth.

Again, this is running a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855. Interestingly, the Razvod says that although it looks the same as the standard Razor 7 Pro, it had to do a lot of work inside to get the cooling and antenna in order - so it's a very different pro standard. in this area.

We expect the upcoming 7T split to have a 5G variant as well - the 7T Pro.

Xiaomi Mix Mi 3 5G

The Xiaomi Mi Mix 3 uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 platform and sports a 6.39-inch FHD+ AMOLED display. The key to its design, however, is the sliding mechanism - meaning there's no front-facing camera interrupting the dominant front screen.

It will be launched in the UK with Vodafone, Three and O2. Price wise, it's a bit cheaper than many 5G phones, making it a great starting point if you want to try out super-fast connectivity.

Oppo Reno 5g

Oppo first showed off a prototype of its Qualcomm-powered 5G phone at the Mobile World Congress 2019 (above). We were now looking at the phone in the flesh. It is available on ee in the UK.

The 6.6-inch phone is based around Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 platform, has an edge-to-edge OLED display with a pop-up shark fin front camera, and a triple rear camera with 10x hybrid zoom.

Huawei mat x and mat 20 x 5gr

The 5G version of the huge 7.2-inch Mate 20x we reviewed earlier this year - called 'Godzilla Phones' - is now available in the UK.

In the UK, O2, three, Vodafone and UO have all previously confirmed pal 20 x 5g, but plans have been cast into doubt because Huawei's trade ban.

However, the Huawei-Google situation is at least a little clearer, the device is available in three and Sky Mobile right now - and from the car phone warehouse. We expect other networks above to re-announce it in due course.

Huawei has also been talking about its Mate X foldable phone, which will be released later this year - probably in September. It supports 5G and before the ban was announced coming to Vodafone and ee in the UK.

It won't be cheap, although there are no prices in the UK so far. The global announcement set it at €2,299 with 8GB of RAM and 512GB of storage.

Huawei is also going to provide a 5G home router - we saw it in action in one of Beeline's 5G trials - called the 5G CPE Pro Router. Vodafone, three and uh this stocking will be; Vodafone is marketing like GigaCube 5G.

Huawei uses its own hardware platform inside its flagship devices and the 5G modem is called Balong 5000, with 6.5Gbps maximum speed. It works alongside the Kirin 980 platform, which debuted inside the Mate 20 Pro and is already being used in the P30 series.

In addition to these devices, we expect the end of 2019 Mate 30 to Huawei's first mass-market 5G phone.

LG V50 with ThinQ

LG's new mainstream 4G flagship phone is the LG B8, but LG has also announced the V50 or ThinQ which is available on ee in the UK. G series phones like the G8 will remain as 4G LTE phones according to LG, while V devices will be 5G from now on.

The V50 or ThinQ has a 4000mAh battery and a liquid-cooler to keep everything nice and cool, dissipating heat up to 40 percent faster than the predecessor model. It is based on the Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 platform.

The Motorola Moto Z3 has a 5G Moto Mod and is now available in the US as a Verizon exclusive. We've seen it in the flesh and while it's not quite as impressive as some of the other 5G phones we've seen, it was a good first look at the 5G device.

Sony used the Mobile World Congress earlier this year to launch three phones, but none of them were 5G. Instead, Sony's prototype 5G device - which has long had a 21:9 aspect ratio - was shown off at Qualcomm's booth. Details are limited, but we do know that it uses Qualcomm's Snapdragon 855 chipset and X50 5G modem. That's as much as we have now - we could get it soon at IFA 2019 although we've heard some whispers from the net that it could be one before 2020.

Vivo has also confirmed the development of the 5G device, with a prototype revealed late at Qualcomm's booth at CES 2019. There's no word yet on when it will launch.

ZTE Axon 10 Pro 5G

We don't usually case for ZTE online because having its device in Europe, but ZTE's announcement that the Axon 10 Pro 5G phone will be coming to Europe this year may have contributed to the success of other Chinese mobile phone manufacturers.

Again the phone runs a Qualcomm Snapdragon 855 and is rumored to have a 6.47-inch 2,340 x 1080 display.
