How to Bullet Journal and Organize Your Life (Step by Step Guide) Bullet

magazines is a great way to get rid of the unbearable digital inputs that have come to dominate our existence today. Wherever we turn, there is a screen, on the bus, on the train, on our tables and in shop windows. No matter where we turn, the full information will appear on the screen. He may feel overwhelming. A well organized bullet magazine offers some relief. It can contain everything you need to keep you organized. The best thing about a bullet journal is you don't need batteries, you don't have to choose between dark or light mode and aside from the cost of a simple notepad and pen, very cheap to maintain. No annual subscription or in-app purchase. So how is the bullet magazine? Here is your step by step guide:

How to set up a bullet magazine?

The beauty of creating a bullet journal for yourself is you have complete freedom in how you set it up, organize it and what kind of laptop you use. The internet is full of ideas and suggestions on how to set one up, but the best magazines are yours because we're all different and we all have different things we want to record. I exercise a lot and how to keep a record of what exercises I did, how it felt and how hard I pushed myself. Others like to keep a daily list of two or three things they are grateful for and keep track of their thoughts and feelings. What you write down is entirely up to you. So, how do you go about creating your own bullet magazine?

Items you need

Sturdy laptop. Ideally, you should get yourself a hardcover notebook. Your bullet magazine is going to go with you everywhere and you are going to be stuffing it into your bag. It must be tough to withstand whatever you throw at it. You should also pay special attention to the size. Remember, your journal needs to go with you everywhere you go, so it needs to be easily portable. A5 size is the more common size and A5 size notebooks will fit into almost any bag comfortably. Another consideration is the kind of paper you will be using. Blank, lined or squared? In the past, I have preferred checkered paper because it helps keep the symbols for my daily to-do list in a clean vertical line (more on symbols later). These days, I use lined paper. And of course, there is the kind of pen you use, the pen you love to write. You want to love writing in your journal, which means that the pen you use is important. I write with a fountain pen—there's something wonderfully old-worldly about writing in a fountain pen—but you may prefer a gel pen or a plain pen. For the more creative of you, a different handle color can also be a factor. The fantastic thing about a bullet magazine is you can use any color you want for the different parts of your magazine. Blue or black for daily-dos, red for your goals throughout the day. My system is simple. I have a gorgeous green ink for writing and I use a pencil to check a task and when adding notes to an entry I want to add more information.

Installation

Okay, now you have your tools. Sturdy notepad and pen, you love to write. What to put in your magazine bullet? However, the force of the bullet log you are in complete control. Unlike the app on your phone or computer, there are no restrictions. You decide how the layout of your journal is, what information you store there, and how you organize your lists and notes. Below are the basics so you can get started quickly but always be prepared to try different ways, you want to create a method that works for you and the best way to do this is to experiment with different layouts.

Index

This is the content where you keep a list of page numbers for all your keys. Imagine you have an idea for a new business while sitting in a coffee shop and you pull out your journal and jot down your ideas. At six weeks, she will have plenty of time to find the idea. To overcome this, you create an index on the front of the laptop and you can add an idea plus a page number so you can find it quickly when you need it. Give yourself enough space for your index. At least two pages, four is usually a safe number to make sure you have plenty of space to write everything down.

Monthly Calendar

At the beginning of each month, write out the days of the month. You can add days as well if you wish. For example, down to the left side of the page, you wanted to write:

  • 1-m
  • 2-t
  • 3-z
  • 4-T
  • 5-F

In each day, you can add key events or events so that you can easily see what's going on and what happened.

Monthly List

The next page is the key tasks to be completed this month. Think of it like a master monthly to-do list. The advantage of this list is that it gives you an area where you can plan your month and decide what goal you want to achieve. It also means that you have a page that you can refer to regularly to see how you are doing against your plan for the month.

Daily Pages

This is where you can get very creative. Just google "journal" and go to the images page and you'll see some incredibly creative journal entries. The advice I would give here is to start simple. Don't go crazy. Here are the basics of what you need for your daily page:

  • Your to-do list for the day
  • Your events for the day
  • Space for notes and ideas

And these basics, you can add whatever you want. In my journal, I have a document of the exercise that I did during the day, how I felt and how I pushed myself or not. I also have my two goals for the day in the top corner, so I have a constant reminder of two things I will complete this day. You can add things like the weather, a gratitude journal, a mood tracker, or even how many days until your next vacation. One thing I like about my journal is that it lists everything I did that day. I do this so I can keep track of how productive I have been over time. It can be easy to forget what you have done daily. Most productivity systems and tools focus on what the job is supposed to do and when the job is done, it either disappears (if you are using a digital system) or is not documented.

Your Goals

Officially, this is not a bullet point magazine, but for me, I like to write my yearly goal in every magazine I write. Obviously, over time, you will replenish your magazine and you will need to buy a new one. I go through about three magazines a year and every time I start a new magazine, I write down my goals for the year. They are on the cover of the magazine. I also save space in the back of the journal for future goal ideas and repost them in every new diary I start. Writing down my goals every time I start a new journal allows me to revisit my goals and keeps them at the front of my mind so I can focus on what I decide is important to me.

How to use your journal daily

Okay, now you have your journal set up, the question is, how do you use it on a daily basis? At the beginning of the day, you write the date at the top of the page and under it write out the tasks you need to complete that day. Under your tasks, write down your meetings and key events for the day. Leave a blank page left for notes and ideas as you go through the day. As you go through the day and complete your tasks, use symbols to indicate what happened:

  • Just "X" don't show completed tasks (or you can just draw a line through the tasks)
  • And “>” means that the task was transferred on another day (optionally, you can add the date the task was forwarded)
  • The “<” will mean that you have decided to postpone the task until next month

Tasks that you have not completed that day can be carried over to the next day. That's all you need to do. However, how you check your tasks, what information you collect, and what kind of notes you write is entirely up to you. This is the force of a bullet in a magazine. This is your journal and you can create it and write down the information you want. Slavically following someone else's system won't work for you in the long run. You want to think about what you want to record and save. Of course, this will change over time, but you should make this journal yours.

Weekly and monthly to-do list

Each week, you should review your top task lists to see what tasks you can complete that week. Some people like to have a weekly to-do list at the start of each week, and this might be a good idea if you have a lot of tasks to complete each week. Again, it's really up to you. The main thing is that you should review these lists often and add tasks to your daily list as and when you can.

Bottom Line

Creating a bullet journal is easy and there are many resources online that will give you ideas on what you want to record and how to create your journal. The bullet journal is a great tool to keep you organized and focused on what's important to you in the way you want to record it. It gives you a break from the screens. When set up correctly, your journal will give you everything you need to stay organized and become more productive. It can also help you become more self-aware and mindful of who you are and who you want to be. The great thing about a pool magazine is you get the freedom to create your own method and design. You can choose the kind of notebook and pen you use and you will be able to build an incredible story of your life over time.
