Reports show the non-9KS Core i9900 processor boasts 127W TDP

As we prepare to launch the non-9KS Core i9900 processor - with some motherboard manufacturers already releasing motherboard firmware to support the new processors - new documentation surfaced to suggest that a more powerful iteration of the non-9K Core i9900 processor could potentially hit the streets with 127Sh heat dissipation (thermal power).

vigilant Urotho redditor noticed that ASUS has updated the processor support list of the Maximus motherboard Xi code gaming motherboard, listing the core i9 non-9900KS with 127Sh TDP.

Of course, this specification has not been confirmed by Intel. It also appears that ASUS's mainstream i9 non-9900KS motherboard processor support list may be before the chip hits the streets in October. However, Volumes of hardware also noted that Russian retailer CSN store confirms this information on their main i9 non-9900KS landing page.

What does this higher TDP mean for consumers?

We already know the upcoming processor has a base clock of 4GHz and 5.0GHz when overclocked all cores, go for the non-9K i9900 at 3,6GHz and 5.0GHz and take the clock. But other than that, there isn't much difference in their specs, as the base i9 non-9900KS is reported to have the same number of cores and threads, btw.

If the rumors are right, however, the mainstream i9 is not-9900KS will have the highest customer TDP on Intel mainstream desktop processors. Its 127W TDP, which is 33.68% higher than the i9's non-9900K 95W, also means the chip could potentially offer better performance.

On the other hand, this also means that it will generate more heat and have higher power consumption, so heavier cooling may be required. This is without mentioning the fact that not all motherboards on the market will be able to support the mainstream i9 non-9900KS.

We, of course, have to wait until the October release to confirm all of this. The good news is that it won't be long now until we get our hands on the Core i9 non-9900KS processor to see how it performs in a real world scenario.
