Audi Q3 HBO 2019 UK comment

Audi Q3 Sportback 2019 UK first drive review - hero front Audi thinks the world needs a Q3 with a lower roofline and slightly less rear seat space. Is not it? It's not an Audi Q4, as logic might dictate, given the presence of the Q7 and its lower-covered sportified B8 sibling. Nope, Audi chose the sporty Q3 tag, and not just because it's an extremely literal term to describe a new car or because they want to keep the relationship. It's also because the B4 name will be used on a new electric SUV arriving next year. Naming a quirk aside (HBO is also used to refer to the five-door version of the A3 and the four-door version of the A5), there was more work to turn the standard Q3 into a HBO than you might expect. Yes, the curvature of the roof has dropped by 49mm, but it's also more of a touch and a tad slimmer than the Q3, while the front and rear of the design are vastly different. In fact, there is no body panel common at all. Those SUVs with lowered roofs aren't exactly aesthetically pleasing (the BMW X4, we're still watching you), but we think Audi has done a decent job with HBO. In fact, it may be the only coupe SUV that actually does its job. In fact, it's more desirable than the regular SUV it's based on. But then beauty (hmm, let's not go that far) is in the eye of the beholder.
