PlayStation in Vue will stop working on January 30, 2020

Sony interactive entertainment, has announced that it will officially close the PlayStation in Vue early next year.

"Today we are announcing that we have closed the PlayStation View service on January 30, 2020," SIE Vice President, John Kodera, wrote on the official PlayStation Blog.

“Unfortunately, the very low pay TV industry, with expensive content and network offerings, is slower to change than we expected. Because of this, we have decided to focus on our core gambling business."

"We're very proud of what PlayStation in Vue has been able to achieve," Kodera continued. “We had ambitious goals that our service could change the way people watch TV, demonstrating the ability of the Playstation to innovate into a whole new category in the pay TV industry.

"We want to thank all of our customers, some of whom have been with us since the launch of PlayStation Vue in 2015."

smart money

PlayStation Vue is a subscription-based streaming video that pairs live local channels such as NBC, CBS, ABC and Fox with dozens of well-known cable channels from across the spectrum. The service is only available in the United States, and as the name suggests, you can actually watch on the PlayStation 4.

It's no surprise that Sony is leaving PlayStation for Vue as it progresses to the next-generation PS5 - the service wasn't exactly a huge success.

According to a recent report on information (according to the Gamasutra website), Sony's digital TV has been hemorrhaging so much money that the company plans to sell its technology and subscriber list so it could move away from TV altogether. And that seems to be exactly what is happening.

Sony has always been up against fierce competition from PlayStation Vue, in which services such as DirectTV and YouTube digital satellite channels, which attracts millions of subscribers, while Vue, has only about 500 subscribers.

PlayStation in Vue will stop working on January 30, 2020. However, Sony hasn't explained what will happen to already paid subscriptions that run beyond that time.
