Toyota Corolla gr Sport
Performance-inspired hatchbacks and rugged estates join the lineup, while pure-gasoline power ditched
The Toyota Corolla is now offered in the UK exclusively as a hybrid, with the only non-electrified engine having been ditched as part of a facelift for 2020.
The line for the Ford Focus competitor now includes two new options that were revealed at the Geneva Motor Show earlier this year: a performance-inspired GR Sport hatchback and a high-riding Sport Track Touring property. Notably, all versions will now feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Corolla will continue with two petrol-electric hybrid options: a 120bhp powertrain with a 1.8-liter engine and a transmission built around a 181bhp 2,0-liter engine. The 1,2 liter turbocharged petrol engine was removed from the range. Toyota also recently made the S-HR crossover hybrid-only.
A new sport GR Corolla in Gazoo Racing, Toyota Motorsport Lever. It has some of the styling elements of the GR models, though the drivetrains and performance remain unchanged. Toyota is considered to be given a full-fledged corolla gr hot hatch.
The corolla sports GR badges, a new grille mesh, different bumpers and new 18-inch black alloy wheels. The silver insert in the rear bumper is designed to create the "look" of the twin tailpipes and diffuser.
The cabin has sporty front seats and a 7.0 touchscreen - Toyota's biggest entertainment package. It also comes with LED headlights, tinted rear windows, an auto-dimming rearview mirror and a head-up display.
Named because of a partnership between Toyota and track bike manufacturer, the Corolla Touring Sport Track has its suspension raised by 20mm to give it an “off-road-influenced look”. It also gets silver-finished front and rear runners, new 17-inch alloy wheels, tinted rear windows and LED headlights.
There are track-branded scuffplates inside, along with updated upholstery and wood-trimmed dashboard trim. The track matches the existing design, trim, with the addition of trunk runs.
Corolla G Sport and Corolla Touring Sport Track are already on sale, with deliveries due to begin in January.
