We're driving the 8th generation golf to see if it can stay in the King's hatchback family
Volkswagen is talking about the new MK8 Golf - it's the toughest golf course ever. And given its features of an almost entirely digital cockpit, uses never-before-seen hybrid engines and has a host of driver-assistance systems, who are we to disagree?
But this is also the end of an era. Volkswagen now sees its future in pure-electric code 3, which means that while the new Golf will be an absolutely over-selling powerhouse for several years to come, as a concept, it exists in debt (not dramatic). Still, we expect this one to once again compete for distinction not only against its usual rivals from Audi, Ford and Renault, but now also BMW, who have been impressed by the new 1 Series front-wheel drive. .
When the MK8 Golf arrives early next year, it will be the same for the family hatchback, right? We drove the prototype to Portugal to find out more.
