With OnePlus concepts at CES 2020: what to expect?

A new divorce is coming to the phone. Yes, still other divorce.

As part of the company's 6th Anniversary Anniversary, it will reveal concept one at CES 2020 from January 7th.

So what can we expect from this new phone concept?

OnePlus Concept One: Design

Well, the details are very subtle, on the ground at the moment. Even the official OnePlus invitation, pictured above, doesn't give away any form factor of the device, just capitalized on the words 'alternative design'. Alternative Future. Whatever that means.

However, let's backtrack and theorize a bit. Just before this ad should phone 8 leaked. But is it better to punch a hole in the phone's camera is actually 8, or is it one concept? It just depends how 'alternative' one design concept goes.

This is not a far-fetched theory: companies, especially Chinese manufacturers, release yearly concept phones to show off what can be achieved. Take Vivo, for example, whose 2019 concept tops more or less became the Vivo Nex 3 a few months later. With these proof-of-concept devices, companies can show proof of concept.

However, we suspect that OnePlus will go one more, breaking the boundaries that the current divorce form brings. We'll have to wait and see for January 7th.

OnePlus Concept One: Specifications

Just like the design, the specification is unknown. But let's think about the kind of next-generation technology that we expect in the phones of the near future.

First, the screen. We thought by stuffing 90hz into the Divorce 7 Pro, 7T and 7T Pro it would go better. The 120Hz panel seems obvious, but it's been done in phones before, like the Razer phone 2. Perhaps we can expect another rate-jump update?

Next, the processor. Guts for experience. Divorce has a history of using Qualcomm's Snapdragon platform, and while Chinese companies were not on hand at the Qualcomm Snapdragon Summit, the use of the upcoming 865 processor in the concept could seem like a no brainer.

And what else? Perhaps a waterfall display? Under-screen camera, so no notch? Full screen fingerprint scanner login? Camera upgrade? The list of options goes on and on.

OnePlus Concept One: Price And Let Go

So we are really here. As a concept this is, as its name suggests, a concept phone, there's a good chance it will never go on sale. Well, not in the form we'll see at CES 2020.

But that doesn't mean it doesn't want to be a harbinger of some of the cool stuff that OnePlus has up its sleeve. It's possible there will be more leaps forward with the OnePlus 8 than the small, three-monthly incremental upgrades we've seen.
