Action-packed and like nothing else on the big screen, The Mandalorian is a show that's sure to make you ask, "why would you live in the house of the Star Wars series for so long?" While we can't say for sure, we have to imagine that Lucasfilm was just waiting for a service like Disney+ to make all this work something really special. The series titular The Mandalorian is a lone gunslinger who makes a living by accepting bounties - and being extremely good at filling them. However, the world's usually-reliable bounty hunter is turned upside down when he decides to save one of his targets, the dubious people who hired him. Chances are you already know who this target is, but we won't spoil it for you if you didn't know. Alone at home
The premise of Home Alone is simple: an eight-year-old child accidentally leaves while his entire family goes on vacation, and finds himself fending off a pair of bumbling robbers with a series of comic-top booby traps. In the wrong hands, this kind of material can be unbearable. Instead, a delightfully playful and clever script, John Hughes (The Breakfast Club, Ferris Bueller Takes the Day Off) and place-on direction from Chris Columbus (Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone), results in pure magic. Part of that magic, of course, will come down to the casting of Macaulay Culkin, who, despite his young age, managed to find the perfect balance of progressiveness and the heart of his protagonist demanded. A great family holiday movie, Home Alone is a Christmas classic.
Lady and the Tramp
2019 has been a big year for live-action versions of Disney movies, with The Lion King, Aladdin and Dumbo offering new and exciting big-screen interpretations of beloved classics. However, Disney has somehow managed to keep its brightest live action reimagining on the small screen with Lady and the Tramp. An updated version of this beautiful story once again follows a beloved house dog (Tessa Thompson) who meets and falls in love with a street mongrel (Justin Theroux) with a heart of gold. It's a story that's just as touching as the original animated film that was released back in 1955. The perfect family movie if ever had one.
If you're a parent, chances are your kids are already obsessed with Frozen, the brilliantly animated Disney movie that's based on Hans Christian Andersen's The Snow Queen. If so, they will love being able to download the Frozen in Disney+ app and watch it over and over again on their smart devices! In the now classic songs 'Let Go' and 'Do You Want to Build a Snowman?', Frozen turns fairy tradition on their heads, teaching the girls that they don't need dashing princes to come and rescue them, and that they can be masters of their own destiny.
