How to watch the Oscars 2020 Best Film nominees

Awards season is in full swing, with the 92nd Academy Awards airing on February 9, 2020, a week after the BAFTAs in the UK.

If you're like us, you want to watch the top contenders from the comfort of your couch, and with the arrival of services like Netflix and Amazon Premier, many of this year's contenders can be watched at home.

Netflix has racked up 24 nominations for the various films it has produced, making it the biggest haul of nominations for any studio this year.

Here's how and where to watch the nine films nominated for this year's Best Picture at the Oscars:

1917

Widely tipped as the current contender for this year's Oscar race, the film follows two soldiers as they race against the clock to deliver the message that will save an entire battalion in World War I. Nominated for a number of awards including Best Director Sam Mendes and Roger Deakins for Best Cinematography. The genius of the film is that it's all filmed as if it's one take.

It's currently only in theaters, but you can pre-order it on Amazon in both the UK and US.

Ford in Ferrari

The film tells the true story of Henry Ford wanting to overtake a Ferrari at Le Mans and turning to Shelby, Carroll (played by Matt Damon) and Ken Miles (played by Christian Bale). Although both actors did not receive any Best Actor nominations, the film made it to the final nine "Best Picture".

It's currently only in theaters, but you can pre-order it on Amazon in both the UK and US.

Irishman

Earning 10 nominations, Irish director Martin Scorsese leads the Netflix package with nominations for not only Best Picture, but Best Director, Cinematography, and Supporting Actors Joe Pesci and Al Pacino.

Because it's a Netflix original, it might be watched via Netflix at home already.

Joker

A huge success and one of 2019's most talked about films, the movie Darker take on the Batman villain stared Joaquin Phoenix. He has already won a Golden Globe for his performance and was nominated for a BAFTA and the film leads the nominations with 11 in total.

The Joker is already available for download through numerous online retailers, although it is not yet available through any streaming service. You can buy or rent digital copies from Apple, Amazon, Voodoo, Google Play, and YouTube.

Little Women

Greta Gerwig may have missed out on the director's best nod (good luck to all the men), but she didn't miss out on getting a Best Picture nomination. The star-studded cast, and nodding Oscar for Best Actress Florence Pugh, the film is still in theaters around the world. It still plays in movies but is available for pre-order on Amazon USA.

Marriage History

Another Netflix original, Marriage Story sees Scarlett Johansson (the Black Widow in the Marvel movies) go through the trials and tribulations of her divorce from Adam Driver (Kylo-Kylo Ren from Star Wars).

On Netflix, the film earned six nominations and is available to stream via Netflix now.

Once Upon a Time in Hollywood
