Sennheiser Pulse True Wireless 2 adds more battery life and ANC to great-sounding headphones

Sennheiser has taken the wraps off its second generation of momentum true wireless headphones, bringing them in line with trends for 2020 by adding much longer battery life and active noise cancellation (ANC).

Unlike the pair's first generation, the new Impulse Wireless 2 can reach up to seven hours of continuous music playback by peeking into the included charging case. This is a significant improvement over the four hours offered by the first generation.

With the battery in the charging case included, Sennheiser says you can go up to 28 hours before needing to plug the case into a power source for a full charge.

That battery is quite a lot, by current standards, with the AirPods Pro lasting about 25 hours. It's still a little way off the 40 hours on offer from the MW07 plus Master & Dynamic though.

The big point to talk about, however, is the addition of the ANC. Says Sennheiser and you'll be able to get great sound quality in noisy environments thanks to the presence of active noise cancellation.

It works alongside the already effective passive noise cancellation as well as self-sealing to give you crisp detail and the great balanced sound that the 7mm drivers delivered.

The headphones use beamforming to reduce external noise on phone calls and use Bluetooth 5.1 and aptX compatibility for efficient, reliable and uninterrupted communications.

Like most ANC-equipped headphones, the microphones on the outside of the headphones can also be used to block out ambient noise. This means you can still choose to hear what's going on around you when you need to: on the platforms during announcements, for example.

Other smart features include an automatic pause and play feature when you take the headphones out of your ears and don't put them back in.

And when you wear them, you should feel like they are more comfortable for longer periods than the last pair. Sennheiser have already redesigned them a bit to make them more ergonomic while making their sliver shorter.

The Turnover True Wireless will go on sale in April for 279/€299, and will initially be available in black with a white model at a later date.
