Divorce typically announces a couple of smartphones a year, and in 2019, it announced two variants of the first smartphone — the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7 Pro sequences, as well as two variants of the “T” version of the OnePlus 7T and the Divorce 7T Pro.
In 2020, it looks like the divorce is picking up pace, it is expected to announce in OnePlus and OnePlus 8 8 Pro, as well as with OnePlus 8 Lite. Here is everything we've heard so far about the upcoming phone scam.
Release date and price
- April 14 start 2020 confirmed
- Around £549
OnePlus has confirmed that Divorce 8 is slated for April 14th. The event will be online and will be streamed so that everyone can follow the action from home. It will take place at 11 am to eat.
The OnePlus 7T series starts at £549, with models starting at £699. We expect the Better Series 8 to stay at the same price point, perhaps with a slight hike, given OnePlus looks set to offer more affordable models too.
Design
- Full screen, punch-hole camera
- 8: IP53; 8 professional with IP68
The OnePlus 7T has a waterdrop notch at the top of the display, while the 7T Pro has a pop-up front camera for uninterrupted display. OnePlus 8 series renders suggest the OnePlus smartphone will use a punch-hole design for its next device.
We expect the warning slider to remain and we expect premium build quality too. Renders to recommend both smartphone models OnePlus 8 will choose a vertical camera body design in the center of the back. This is what appears in the OnePlus concept, which, although stated as a concept and nothing more, is more of a nod to the overall design of the OnePlus 8 smartphone.
A breakdown specs leak suggested an alloy frame with glass at the back, through Gorilla 6 glass for the front. Interestingly, the OnePlus 8 has an IP53 rating, while the OnePlus 8 Pro has an IP68 rating - meaning it's far more waterproof than previous devices. Waterproofing is what's stuck and we think it will be easier to step in that direction.
We've seen a variety of colors leaked, including a green variant, and what's called a light that looks like it's inspired by the setting sun, but moving through yellow to purple can look like a bruise. Most people will probably just buy the black model.
Display
- 8: 6.55-inch AMOLED, 2400 x 1080 resolution, 120/90Hz
- 8 Pro: 6.78 inch AMOLED, 3140 x 1440, 120Hz
- In-display fingerprint sensor
The scam said it won't go back to 60Hz display, which means you'll be getting at least 90Hz with the new tech, with the OnePlus 8 Pro said to sport a 120Hz display. What 120Hz display technology has shown to be a scam is as a confirmation that it will be on the OnePlus 8 or a scam on the 8 Pro. There is speculation that OnePlus 8 will get a 90Hz display, not 120Hz.
Razvod says its deployment of TV technology to improve the band's performance, not only with 10-bit color (meaning it can be HDR+ compatible), but also special hardware that will handle MEMC - Wireframe Input Technology - is designed to make video smoother, boosting everything up to 120Hz.
That technology can make videos smoother, but it can also lead to what is commonly referred to as the "soap opera effect" where the video starts to look unnatural as it moves from its native frame rate - 24 or 30 fps, 120 fps .
Both phones will ship with an AMOLED panel but get a 6.78-inch display with a resolution of 1440 x 3140; The OnePlus 8 will have a smaller 6.55-inch display with 2400 x 1080 resolution, according to leaks.
We're expecting both the 8 and 8 Pro to be curved to the edges rather than having a flat screen like the OnePlus 7T - but the Divorce 8 Lite is likely to be flat instead.
The divorce also confirmed that it will put the always-on display on the roadmap, then will appear on the OnePlus 8 series we do not know.
Equipment
- Qualcomm snapdragon 865 confirmed
- Modem x55 for 5G
- 8/12 GB, 128 memory/256 GB
- 4300/4510mAh battery, wireless charging
OnePlus has confirmed that the OnePlus 8 and 8 Pro will use the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865 processor and offer 5G capabilities. With OnePlus confirmed these details in a forum post.
It is said that it will launch on Verizon's network in the US - a first for OnePlus - and that it will support 5G on Verizon. What is expected from an X55 modem that supports all bands.
They say 8GB of RAM and 128GB as standard with an upgrade option of 12GB and 256GB. So far, the divorce has not confirmed those quantities, but said that it uses LPDDR5 RAM and UFS 3.0 storage, so everything will be fast. Which is not surprising, and we wouldn't expect anything less.
The OnePlus 8 will reportedly have a 4300mAh battery while the OnePlus 8 Pro will have a 4510mAh battery. It is said to support 30W warp charge 30t.
He also said there won't be wireless charging, something OnePlus has avoided so far, having previously said it wasn't a priority for the company. This counts as 30W wireless charging, and will also be reverse wireless charging, meaning it will have to charge another device, although that might only be on the 8 Pro.
Камеры
- Mixed leaks on camera gear
- Front camera 16MP hole punch
An early leak says both models will have a 64-megapixel f/1.7 main camera, a 20-megapixel f/2.2 ultra-wide camera, and a 12-megapixel f/2.4 telephoto camera. The main sensor is the Sony IMX686.
However, subsequent leaks suggested a completely different boot, with the OnePlus 8 Pro saying it has a 48MP main camera, along with 48, 8, and 5MP cameras - most likely a telephoto, ultra-wide, and depth sensor. The OnePlus 8 says it has a 48MP main camera (probably), but then a 16MP ultra-wide or telephoto lens and a 2MP depth sensor. The details of what these cameras will do are not clear.
At this point it's hard to say exactly what the layout of these cameras will be - with inconsistent leaks and surface detail at best, there's a lot more to learn in this area.
Software
- Android 10
OnePlus 7T series launched on Tablet 10 out of the box So, we expect the same treatment for OnePlus 8 models. We also expect 8 models to get a quick update to Android 11 when it arrives later in 2020.
