Epson has identified the two most important factors when it comes to a great projector - price and image quality. It's quite difficult and very risky to look for something much cheaper than this machine and still get a decent product, but that doesn't mean it's a bargain projector.
It has a great display with impressive brightness and great contrast, and you can adjust the image from 30 to 300 inches, making it great even if the size you'll be projecting on can be changed. If you're looking for a Full HD projector, this is the obvious choice for our money.
LG Minibeam PF1000U
It's a good chunk of pricier, but the LG projector makes up for that price increase with some great quality of life features. It's an ultra-short throw projector, which means it goes straight up to the wall you'll see it on, which is great if you don't want to stick anything to the ceiling or pull out a big block every time you view it. You need it. It's actually edge portable.
At the same time, the image is really solid, although it can't compete with a large projector when it comes to brightness, so you'll need a darkened room. The reality is that this projector should be picked up if you know you won't be using it often, but need the flexibility as part of the package.
ViewSonic PJD7720HD
With really impressive brightness for the price, the ViewSonic projector is a great alternative to the Epson we put in first place, although it will cost you a bit more. It also manages great color depth and really variety.
It's not very attractive, but it's not the biggest problem when it comes to the projector, so if it has a slightly utilitarian style, you can forgive it. The fan can also be a bit loud in operation, but the reality is that the image quality easily makes up for small imperfections.
BenQ W2000 Plus
You can go with the standard W2000 if you want to save some money and still have a great experience, but we love the extra brightness the Plus model brings to the table, which is so important to enjoying projection. It's a super projector that can even assemble matching speakers for a great all-around package.
It's also easy to set up and works great if you're planning a game - the anti-aliasing mode works great for any Call of Duty: Warzone sessions you might want to set up.

However, we focused more on the gaming side of things for our final pick - after all, for a lot of people, image quality is most important when they're gaming, though not many projectors are aimed squarely at that market. This model from Optoma does just that with impressive results.
The key here is the lack of input lag, which is very low for a projector at this price point and means you can game with full responsiveness that other competitors noticeably miss out on. This is the perfect pack if you want to blast your enemies in an exploded screen.
