Power saving mode controls the supply of electricity to the device. If the laptop is idle for a long time, it:
- temporarily stops the functioning of hard drives;
- turns off the adapters that provide communication with networks;
- puts the computer into sleep mode;
- does not allow full use of USB ports;
- turns off the display;
- and so on.
In the power saving mode settings, you can find two presets that affect the amount of Windows 10 performance:
- Balanced helps to create a balance that does not reduce the performance of the equipment when the consumption of electrical charge is low.
- Saving energy does not allow the CPU and video adapter to reach the potential laid down by manufacturers, winning back precious battery life.
If the options of the specified mode are left intact, the user will receive several restrictions that prohibit overclocking the hardware or running productive applications even with a fully charged battery. Therefore, the methods for turning off the power saving mode in the tenth version of the Windows system are discussed below.
1. Mobility Center
Notebook owners can turn off power-saving mode through a tool called the Mobility Center. Its availability is determined by the battery indicator located in the system tray. If such an icon is displayed, the user has access to a special menu with settings:
- screen brightness;
- external displays;
- sound parameters;
- battery operating modes;
- synchronization process parameters.
To force a laptop not to save electricity in the mobility center, you must:
- Make a RMB click on the battery charge indicator icon.
- Access the Windows Mobility Center via the context menu.
- Find the section reporting the battery status.
- Call up the list of modes by clicking on the drop-down list.
- Indicate "High performance", which is in the proposed options.
The item in the list of available modes mentioned in the last step will reduce the battery savings to zero, freeing up the resources necessary for the normal operation of the OS.
2. Control Panel
This method is recommended to choose if the charge indicator on the laptop has stopped showing in the system tray. Its tools allow you to fine-tune the energy management settings set by Microsoft. To disable current saving in this way, the user must:
- Through the menu called "Start" open the section to change the settings.
- Click the "System" section, and then write the query "Power" in the search field.
- Click on the icon that opens access to "Change power plan".
- In the drop-down list of another window, select "Change advanced power settings".
- In the processor power management tab, select the "Maximum state" option.
- Save the changes made by pressing the OK button at the bottom of the left part of the window.
If all operations are performed correctly, the system will no longer turn off drives, USB ports, video cards, and other computer components to save electrical energy.
