Spotify adds cards and setlist playlists for concert fans

Spotify Reserved screen with concert features

Spotify is building out Reserved, its feature for artists’ most active listeners. A new set of capabilities adds shareable cards, setlist playlists and a single section with concert information.

What’s changing in the app

Reserved works as early access to a portion of tickets for listeners the service considers especially engaged with an artist’s work. Selected users can now share a card when they get an invitation and a separate card after buying a ticket.

The app is also getting a section that brings together event details, past performances and playlists with setlists. That makes Spotify not just a place to listen but also a tool for getting ready for a concert.

How to get into Reserved

No separate sign-up is required. If a listener gets an offer, Spotify lets them know by email, through a notification and in the updates section. For the purchase, the ticket is linked to a Ticketmaster account.

Availability depends on country, age, subscription and the specific tour. The feature is already launching for select artists and will gradually show up in new offers.

Why it’s interesting

Music services compete for attention with more than just recommendations. Concert features help artists engage their most loyal audience, while helping users catch ticket sales in time and get to know the evening’s program in advance.

Listeners should keep in mind that a setlist playlist is a handy guide, not a guarantee that these exact songs will be played at a particular concert.
