The easiest way to watch all the Spider-Man movies in order is series by series, not as one long list. Tobey Maguire, Andrew Garfield and Tom Holland play three different Peter Parkers in three separate stories, and the animated films follow a different hero, Miles Morales. Within each series, release order matches story order, so start with the first film of the series you pick and go by release date.
Below is the order for the three live-action series, for the Marvel films that feature Tom Holland’s Peter Parker, and for the animated trilogy. There’s also a section on whether you need Venom and Sony’s other films. The 1977–1981 TV movies made for the American TV series aren’t included.

The series don’t continue one another, so any one of them works as a complete first watch. The table shows what sets them apart.

If you want a single list, go by release date — it’s in the next section. The series are barely connected. The main exception is Spider-Man: No Way Home, in which Holland’s Peter runs into villains from the earlier live-action films.

Sam Raimi’s trilogy with Tobey Maguire
This is the simplest route: three films in a row that tell a complete story. In the first, Peter gets his powers from a spider bite and faces the Green Goblin. In the second, he tries to juggle school and work with being a hero while Doctor Octopus comes after him. The third brings the black suit, Sandman and Venom, and Peter’s friend Harry Osborn turns against him too.

Marc Webb’s duology with Andrew Garfield
This series doesn’t continue Raimi’s films: Sony started the story over after it canceled the fourth Maguire film in January 2010. The origin story is retold, with the focus on Peter’s relationship with Gwen Stacy and the mystery of his parents. In the first film Peter faces the Lizard; in the second, Electro and Harry Osborn.
There was no third film: in 2015, Sony struck a deal with Marvel Studios, and Spider-Man moved into the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Two films are all you need for this version of the hero.

Tom Holland in the MCU: the order with the Avengers films
Tom Holland’s Peter Parker is part of the Marvel Cinematic Universe, so the solo films alone aren’t enough. He first appears in Captain America: Civil War, and Far From Home picks up after the events of Avengers: Endgame. Here, too, release order matches story order. First appearance
Captain America: Civil War (2016). It’s a film about a conflict among the Avengers, not about Spider-Man, but it’s where Peter meets Tony Stark, who becomes his mentor.
The first solo film
Spider-Man: Homecoming (2017). Peter returns home to Aunt May and school, with Tony Stark keeping an eye on him. Meanwhile, a new villain, the Vulture, emerges in the city.
Two Avengers films
Avengers: Infinity War (2018) and Avengers: Endgame (2019). Peter fights alongside the team, and the events of these films shape where his next solo story begins.
Far From Home and No Way Home
Spider-Man: Far From Home (2019): a trip to Europe with his friends, where Peter has to help Nick Fury and team up with Mysterio. Spider-Man: No Way Home (2021): a spell by Doctor Strange opens the way for villains from other universes.
Brand New Day
Spider-Man: Brand New Day (2026). Holland’s fourth solo film came out in theaters in late July 2026. Peter protects New York as Spider-Man full-time, and a change begins in him that he may not be able to control.
The Miles Morales movies: the animated trilogy
Sony Pictures Animation’s animated series follows Brooklyn teen Miles Morales and a multiverse where more than one hero wears the Spider-Man mask. You can watch it separately from the live-action films. The first film won the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature.
In the second film, Miles and Gwen Stacy travel to other universes and meet a whole society of Spider-People. It ends on a cliffhanger, and the third film will continue that exact story, so watch them strictly in order.

Do you need to watch Venom, Morbius and Sony’s other films
Not for the main order. From 2018 to 2024, Sony released six films about characters from the Spider-Man comics, but Peter Parker himself barely appears in them. Their links to the MCU come mostly from the mid-credits scenes in Venom: Let There Be Carnage and Morbius, so you can watch these films on their own if the characters interest you.
