Ten practical tips for personal growth: daily routines, a tidy space, healthy habits, volunteering, simplicity, and mindfulness.

By applying what you have learned about yourself in everyday life, you set yourself up for success. There are many ways to develop and grow as a person.

Personal growth is a kind of divine superiority that encompasses the physical, mental, and emotional aspects of ourselves. For me, challenges act as a passage or path to greater awareness and a better understanding of the self — a multilayered, dynamic, and complex “I” that demands change (but resists it).

However, personal growth is more than just change. If you have ever faced losses or failures in your life that forced you to rebuild, this is one way to identify and assess your inner work.

To start the process of personal growth, you do not have to go through a serious collapse. All you need to do is find time to determine where you are, especially mentally, which can open many doors you may never have thought possible to open.

A family member sent me a three-minute, thirty-five-second video on YouTube that changed my thinking, perception, and reactions to life situations. From this video, you will learn how to mentally determine your location by asking yourself the question: “Where am I?” It may sound silly, but in fact, if you think about where you are, you will get a sense of how you have navigated the world and perhaps why you are not making the progress you want, whether in your personal life or your career.

Many people are set up to thrive on their ego and reject anything that threatens it. In fact, our brain often struggles to detect a real threat coming from a threat to our ego (which you already know if you watch the short video). If you are limited or act below the line, you do not let personal growth emerge. Instead, you may think, I don’t need personal development or growth. I am perfect, and everything is figured out.

You may not realize that personal growth happens every day. Every day, something around you unravels and resolves with the single purpose of teaching you something or prompting you toward (healthy) action.

Recently, after I assessed where I was , I underwent a change of thinking that changed my life . I learned about harmful habits and things I need to work on and get rid of. How we think, whether we accept it or not, affects our actions, which thus become our behavior. Such behavior can even trigger our everyday habits, good, bad, or indifferent.

Determining where you are mentally is even more important than asking yourself: “What do I want?” You are unlikely to get from life what you want if you are too limited and unwilling to improve areas of your life. The biggest challenge I faced was becoming aware of and remembering how I function on a mental and emotional level.

I thought this year was terrible; the worst in my life. Six months ago I felt that I had lost everything. In recent weeks this shift in outlook happened when I started drawing again for the first time in several years. I came to the conclusion that in life, what is destined to be destroyed will be, and if something is not destined to manifest, it will not.

Life can often seem like a series of chaotic events that you cannot control. But in this chaos, something is trying to take a new shape. And that something is you.

The only control we have is how we think and react to what is happening around us. Our actions are an extension of our thoughts. Our mindset determines more than you can imagine.

I tried to be more open to new things and experiences. This experiment led me to finally finish another novel I had written and create a work of art I had always dreamed of. And this new openness also pushed me to land the job of my dreams.

So, here are 10 ways to speed up personal growth and succeed in life.

1. Set an Effective Morning Routine

A morning routine is a great way to develop new healthy habits. The most successful people wake up before 8 a.m. If you want your day off to go right, sleeping in until eleven o’clock will not help.

An easy start to the day and slow movement will ensure smoother transitions throughout the day. Even if your work is chaotic, a lot depends on how you greet the new day.

Statistics now show that a morning routine that may include achieving personal goals, such as making your bed or following an exercise routine, significantly improves your mental and emotional health.

Create the perfect morning routine to speed up your personal growth, and you will see greatness unfold around you.

2. Set a Helpful Evening Routine.

The evening routine is no less important. My evening routines consist of journaling, meditating, or doing some meditative work to interesting music.

At the end of each day, after dinner, I write down what I have accomplished and what still needs attention. This has boosted my success, because it inspired me to do more, create more, and always engage in something positive.

Within three weeks, I found that I was creating around forty paintings, finishing the editing of a book project, and completing some overdue tasks.

3. Spend at Least 15–20 Minutes a Day Reorganizing and Cleaning.

A clean office, workspace, or home is the best way to achieve self-efficacy.

I watched a video about minimalism on Netflix that motivated me to implement it at home and at work. Minimalism is extremely beneficial for your mental, emotional, and even physical health and well-being. An orderly space lets you move freely and accomplish a lot. It can even be inspiring.

As an artist, I am inspired and calmed by a polished space. In turn, this clarity of mind lets me work without being distracted or sidetracked, providing a pleasant flow.

Inspiration and influence fuel creativity, while working in a terribly cluttered and chaotic environment will hinder and limit your ability to get things done. Organization is an important part of personal growth; it will set you up for success and for doing great work.

4. Consider Time Blocking.

Time blocking is the best time-management tool.

I am a creative person and love doing many things, including painting, sewing, photography, and writing. These activities are my lifestyle and my hobbies. Without them, I feel something is missing. And yes, I do a lot every day. So time blocking keeps me in check and disciplines me. If I set aside three morning hours to write, I stick to that and do nothing else.

Limiting your working hours can also prepare you for work if you plan to get a job in the future. At work, you have to be punctual and put in a certain number of hours. Even if you limit your hobbies and wellness activities by time, this is a great way to set up your personal growth for success.

5. Schedule a Meeting to Check In With Yourself Every Day.

Daily self-check-ins offer many benefits. Every morning or day I spend just fifteen to twenty minutes assessing how I feel and where I am mentally and emotionally.

If you take the time to determine what state you are in, this can also improve your ability to cope with stress and anxiety. You can use these check-ins to journal and clear your mind of useless thoughts or worries. I call this “brain dumping.” A clearer mind gives you more ability to focus on what is truly NECESSARY.

Have you ever gotten stuck on something silly that you later realized didn’t need so much attention? This is one reason these check-ins are so inspiring. You control the inner workings of your thoughts and perceptions.

6. Get Rid of Harmful Habits

We are ordinary beings, and our minds are programmed to develop through habits. Unfortunately, harmful habits are easier to develop than good ones. Speeding up personal growth means letting go of these harmful habits so that you stop sabotaging yourself or getting in your own way.

Harmful habits can keep us from great things. If there are harmful habits you find hard to shake, keep a journal to identify them and work on them. Writing is a great tool for getting to the heart of things and solving problems.

7. Regularly Practice Self-Love.

At a meditation group I was about to attend recently, a poster on the wall caught my attention. It said that if you are at peace with yourself, the world will be peaceful too. This is true. Inner peace fosters peaceful responses and actions. Self-love contributes to this calm and to inner growth.

Meditation is one way to bring self-love into your life. It has made my mind calmer and more serene, free of useless nonsense.

8. Give Without Any Reason

When I started giving something back to my community or to organizations that support people, it gave me new understanding. Everyone experiences similar difficulties and failures, and we are always trying to overcome something and become better.

Volunteering is a great way to speed up personal growth. You give your time and attention to other people (rather than to yourself) and spread goodness. This is the only thing the world needs right now: goodness.

Volunteering also creates peace in an environment that might otherwise be chaotic and disorderly. Spend your time helping others, and you will be surprised how it changes you.

9. Strive for Simplicity

It is not always possible to avoid complicated life situations. Again, it is crucial to remember how you respond to what happens to you and around you.

Simplicity is the key to happiness, with less stress, anxiety, and negativity. If you live in an environment full of chaos and disorder, you will find that you are functioning at an extremely unsatisfactory level.

We are not always aware of the sources of our stress. Something as small as an untidy, cluttered home can have such an unexpected and enormous impact on our mental sorting and functioning.

Strive to apply simplicity in many areas of your life as much as possible. This will set you up for success in the future.

10. Practice Mindfulness as Often as Possible.

At a conference I attended some time ago, a speaker introduced mindfulness by asking the audience to sit with their feet on the floor, close their eyes, and focus on their breath. But mindfulness is much more than that. You can find joy in the everyday by being fully aware and attuned to your inner “self” and your external surroundings.

Even if you lead a hurried, strict lifestyle, no one is too busy to practice mindfulness. Move slowly, breathe normally, and fully notice everything around you.

Mindfulness increases your chances of success and helps you carry out tasks calmly and peacefully. And you will achieve more! You will make fewer mistakes, and the likelihood of further stress at work or in your personal life will be significantly reduced.

Final Thoughts

If you want to speed up your personal growth and succeed in life, it all starts with you. Stress harms every aspect of health. We may not realize that this is precisely why we sabotage ourselves or stay stuck.

Personal growth means you are truly ready to grow and expand mentally, emotionally, and physically. The way you navigate life has a ripple effect, good or bad. It is important to understand that sometimes we all make things bigger or worse than they really are, which can only harm relationships and friendships.

If you ask yourself the fundamental question “where am I?” and do everything possible to be more open-minded, it will change your life. Because knowing where you are will guide you on the path to achieving your long-term and short-term goals.
