Biggest fall 2026 games: release dates and platforms

The biggest games of fall 2026 are GTA VI (November 19), Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 (October 23), Gears of War: E-Day (October 6) and the remake of The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time (November 5). New Silent Hill, Control, Ace Combat, Final Fantasy and Minecraft Dungeons games also arrive before the end of November, and Onimusha: Way of the Sword and Marvel’s Wolverine already came out in September.

Below is a calendar of 13 games with release dates and platforms, based on publishers’ information as of September 22, 2026. Where it’s known, we note whether a game supports Russian and Ukrainian, and at the end you’ll find what to pick for PS5, Xbox, PC and Switch 2. Our editors haven’t played these games: this is a release calendar, not a set of reviews.

The dates in the table are the ones publishers give. Many games unlock worldwide at the same minute, so in the US the launch falls on the evening before. For example, Ace Combat 8 unlocks on October 1 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time, which is midnight on October 2 Central European Summer Time (CEST).

On Steam, Silent Hill: Townfall, EA Sports FC 27, Ace Combat 8, Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 and Phantom Blade Zero currently show a date one day earlier than the publisher’s. Check the exact unlock time for your region on the game’s store page.

How we picked

• Fall 2026. The game comes out between September 1 and November 30.
• An exact date. The publisher or the platform holder has confirmed the release day. Games without an exact date or pushed to 2027 aren’t included: for example, Fable, which Xbox had promised for the fall, now comes out on February 23, 2027.
• Notable releases. Big series and new games from well-known studios for PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC and Switch 2.
• Official data. Dates and platforms come from publishers’ websites, PlayStation Blog, Xbox Wire and the stores. Languages come from the games’ Steam pages and, for Marvel’s Wolverine, from the PlayStation website. We don’t list languages for GTA VI and Ocarina of Time.

1. Onimusha: Way of the Sword

Capcom released the game three weeks earlier than planned: on September 4 instead of the 25th. Musashi fights Genma demons, and his Oni Gauntlet absorbs their souls to make him stronger. The PS5 and Steam versions have full Russian voice acting.

2. Marvel’s Wolverine

Insomniac Games made it together with Marvel Games. PlayStation Blog calls it a brutal single-player adventure, and the characters it mentions include Mystique and Sabretooth. No versions for other platforms have been announced.

3. Silent Hill: Townfall

The hero, Simon Ordell, is summoned to the island to “put things right,” but he recognizes neither the place nor its people. Screen Burn, the studio formerly known as No Code, developed the game, and Konami and Annapurna Interactive publish it. On PC it’s coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.

4. Control Resonant

Remedy calls the game an action-adventure with RPG elements: Dylan fights for his humanity and survival against a cosmic threat that bends reality. Besides PC and consoles, it will be on the GeForce NOW cloud service, and a Mac version for Steam and the App Store is coming later in 2026.

5. EA Sports FC 27

Ultimate Edition owners have been playing since September 18. The new mode this season is The Grounds, “a football playground where the streets meet the stadium.” We covered the editions and where to play in a separate article on EA Sports FC 27.

6. Minecraft Dungeons II

It’s the sequel to 2020’s Minecraft Dungeons. You build your hero from gear found along the way: weapons, armor, artifacts and talismans. The game launches on September 29 on all platforms at once and joins Game Pass the same day.

7. Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve

In the campaign, the pilot serves on the aircraft carrier Endurance, which protects refugees. Xbox Wire calls the ACE COMBAT ONLINE mode the most expansive in the series’ history: it has co-op missions and cross-platform play. Deluxe Edition owners get early access three days sooner, on September 28 at 3:00 p.m. Pacific time.

8. Gears of War: E-Day

The story starts 14 years before the first Gears of War, as young Marcus Fenix and Dominic Santiago face the Locust invasion. The PC requirements are steep: at minimum a GeForce RTX 2060 or Radeon RX 6600, 12 GB of RAM and 115 GB on an SSD. The game doesn’t support graphics cards without hardware ray tracing.

9. Final Fantasy Resonance

The game is based on the first story arc of the 2015 mobile game Final Fantasy Brave Exvius, but Square Enix says it has been rebuilt as a full-fledged console RPG. In battle you exploit enemy weaknesses to break their defenses and earn extra turns, and you call Visions, echoes of famous heroes of the series, into your party. The demo covers the entire first chapter.

10. Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4

North Korea launches a full-scale invasion: you fight as Park, a young South Korean soldier, while Captain Price wages his own war. The campaign also visits New York, Paris and Mumbai, and multiplayer includes the DMZ mode. Infinity Ward is making the Switch 2 version with the studio Digital Legends.

11. Phantom Blade Zero

The hero, Soul, is framed for murdering his master, and a wound to the heart leaves him just 66 days to live. S-GAME first set the release for September 9, but in June it moved the game to October 29 to polish it further. On PC it’s coming to Steam and the Epic Games Store.

12. The Legend of Zelda: Ocarina of Time

Nintendo announced the remake in June and gave the release date on September 8 during a stream for The Legend of Zelda’s 40th anniversary. Beyond the graphics, the camera and movement have been reworked, and character dialogue has been expanded. You can play ocarina songs with the buttons or hum them into the Switch 2 microphone.

13. Grand Theft Auto VI

Rockstar is releasing GTA VI on November 19 on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S only — a PC version hasn’t even been announced. Pre-orders opened on June 25, and the digital version can be pre-loaded from November 12. In the US, the Standard Edition costs $79.99 and the Ultimate Edition $99.99.

Fall 2026 games by platform

• PS5. 11 of the 13 games are coming, everything except Gears of War: E-Day and Ocarina of Time. Among consoles, Marvel’s Wolverine, Silent Hill: Townfall and Phantom Blade Zero are PS5-only.
• Xbox Series X|S. 9 games. Gears of War: E-Day and Minecraft Dungeons II join Game Pass on launch day, while Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 4 isn’t part of the subscription at launch.
• PC. 10 games, but no GTA VI: Rockstar hasn’t announced a PC version. Gears of War: E-Day needs an SSD and a graphics card with hardware ray tracing.
• Switch 2. 6 games: the exclusive Ocarina of Time remake, plus Onimusha, EA Sports FC 27, Minecraft Dungeons II, Final Fantasy Resonance and Modern Warfare 4. EA Sports FC 27, Minecraft Dungeons II and Final Fantasy Resonance are also coming to the original Switch.

Of the games whose languages we checked, only Control Resonant and Minecraft Dungeons II have Ukrainian text, and Final Fantasy Resonance has neither Russian nor Ukrainian.
