Dying Light: The Beast has noticeably higher system requirements than Dying Light 2: the minimum is a Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB of RAM, a GTX 1060-class graphics card and, without exception, a 70 GB SSD. Dying Light 2 runs on a Core i3-9100 with 8 GB of RAM, and the first game makes do with 4 GB. Data verified on October 25, 2026 against the Steam pages and Techland’s announcements.

  • The Beast, minimum: Core i5-9600K / Ryzen 5 3600, 16 GB RAM, GTX 1060 / RX 5500 XT / Arc A750, 70 GB on an SSD, Windows 10 or later.
  • The Beast, recommended: Core i5-13400F / Ryzen 7 7700, 16 GB RAM, RTX 3070 Ti / RX 6750 XT / Arc B580, 70 GB on an SSD.
  • Dying Light 2, minimum: Core i3-9100 / Ryzen 3 2300X, 8 GB RAM, GTX 1050 Ti / RX 560 with 4 GB, 60 GB of storage, Windows 10.
  • Dying Light 2, recommended: Ryzen 5 3600X / Core i5-8600K, 16 GB RAM, RTX 2060 6 GB / RX Vega 56 8 GB.

Dying Light: The Beast system requirements

The Beast came out in September 2025 on PC (Steam and Epic Games Store), PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series X|S. It’s a standalone game about Kyle Crane: Techland says plainly that you don’t need to know the earlier games. The table mirrors the game’s Steam page. A 64-bit processor and Windows are required.

There’s a discrepancy. The table Techland published on September 2, 2025 lists a more powerful processor for the minimum: a Core i5-13400F or Ryzen 7 5800X. Steam now names a Core i5-9600K or Ryzen 5 3600 for the minimum. The other rows match: 16 GB of RAM and a 70 GB SSD at every tier.

High and Ultra tiers, laptop requirements

In the same announcement, Techland specified the resolution, frame rate and graphics preset each tier targets and added two higher ones: High and Ultra. All tiers call for Windows 10 or later and 70 GB on an SSD.

For laptops, Techland provided a separate three-tier table, also with a 70 GB SSD and Windows 10 or later.

Ray tracing and tech features in The Beast

Ray tracing was temporarily disabled at launch and enabled with Update 1.4 on November 27, 2025. Techland names two conditions for it and gives one tip on settings.

  • A graphics card that supports ray tracing: NVIDIA RTX, AMD RX 6000/7000 or Intel Arc.
  • VRAM: at least 8 GB; for 4K, Techland recommends 16 GB.
  • Ultra preset: the easiest way to turn on ray tracing. Its individual options can be adjusted in the advanced video settings, and if the frame rate drops, the developers recommend a preset below Ultra.

The game also offers upscaling and frame generation with NVIDIA DLSS 4, AMD FSR 3.1 and FSR 4 (on some graphics cards) and Intel XeSS 2, plus NVIDIA Reflex, AMD Anti-Lag 2, Intel XeLL, HDR, ultrawide monitors and dynamic resolution. Before launching, Techland asks you to update your drivers: NVIDIA Game Ready 581.29, AMD Adrenalin 25.9.1, Intel 32.0.101.7029 or newer.

Dying Light 2 Stay Human system requirements

The second game came out in February 2022; on Steam it’s now called Dying Light 2 Stay Human: Reloaded Edition. The table mirrors the Steam page.

ParameterMinimumRecommended

Steam doesn’t specify the drive type. In Techland’s official table from December 16, 2021, the minimum targets Full HD, 30 FPS and low settings on an HDD, while the recommended specs target Full HD, 60 FPS, high settings and an SSD. The same table includes two ray tracing tiers.

The table is almost five years old and names no AMD graphics cards for ray tracing. The game has kept getting updates since then: for example, patch 1.30 on October 22, 2026 fixed crashes with Intel XeSS and flickering with FSR frame generation turned on.

Original Dying Light system requirements

The original game came out on January 26, 2015 and is undemanding by today’s standards. The data comes from the Dying Light page on Steam.

According to a note on Steam, mobile versions of graphics cards may work but aren’t officially supported. The first game also has macOS versions on Steam (Sierra 10.12.1 or later, with only AMD Radeon graphics cards officially supported) and Linux versions (Ubuntu 14.04 or later; the JFS and XFS file systems aren’t supported).

Can your PC run Dying Light? Check it in a minute

An estimate from the specs: graphics cards are compared by compute power (FP32, TFLOPS) and video memory from the Wikipedia tables, adjusted for the architecture (NVIDIA RTX 30–50, AMD RX 7000–9000 and Intel Arc count TFLOPS differently), processors by release year and thread count. The requirements come from our articles (publishers’ data, checked 30 October 2026). Real performance depends on drivers, settings and the game itself.

How to check your PC

You don’t need third-party software: everything is built into Windows. The paths come from Microsoft’s help page on device information.

Find your processor, memory and Windows version

Open Settings → System → About. Under “Device specifications,” you’ll find the processor, RAM amount and system type; under “Windows specifications,” the edition and version.

Result: You can see the processor, RAM amount, system bitness and Windows version.

Identify your graphics card

Press Win + R, type dxdiag and confirm. The Display tab shows the graphics card name and its memory: The Beast needs 6 GB at the minimum and 8 GB or more for ray tracing. The DirectX version is shown on the System tab.

Result: You know your graphics card model and its memory.

Check your drive

In Settings, open System → Storage: The Beast needs 70 GB on an SSD, Dying Light 2 needs 60 GB. The drive type is shown in Task Manager (Ctrl + Shift + Esc) on the Performance tab when you select the disk.

Result: You know whether there’s enough space and whether you have an SSD.

Dying Light on a low-end PC: what to do

  • Pick the game that fits your hardware. If your computer has less than 16 GB of RAM or no SSD, The Beast is officially out. Dying Light 2 gets by with 8 GB, and the first game needs just 4 GB.
  • Install the game on an SSD. The Beast requires one at every tier. Our HDD vs SSD article explains how the drives differ. If your SSD is full, you can move the game to another drive in Steam without reinstalling it.
  • Start with a low preset. Techland designs The Beast’s minimum tier for 1080p, 30 FPS and low settings. Turn on DLSS, FSR or XeSS, and leave ray tracing off on a graphics card with less than 8 GB of memory.
  • Update your drivers to the versions Techland lists or newer.
  • Upgrade. If the graphics card is the bottleneck, see our graphics card roundup: The Beast’s recommended tier needs an RTX 3070 Ti or RX 6750 XT-class model.
